Prelude

Saturday night - 10PM

Look great, can't pinch a skin full & veins popping out. Body weight 12 st 4 pounds (172 pounds), 28 inch waist.

Sunday Morning - 8.30AM

Oh shit! 'over-carbed'! Flat, holding water on stomach. Body weight 12 stone 6 pounds (174 pounds), waist 28 3/4 inches

Lee AKA "Mad dog" my training partner, good friend & backstage main man picks me up at 11AM. We arrive at the show venue in Exeter 12.10PM. I sign in, look at the changing rooms & stage, it's a very nice venue.

1 AM went backstage to tan up, pump up. Felt good, looking ok, but not 100%. Eight in my class, all looking in good shape, the battle was on...!

Showtime!

2.45 PM All out on stage, good crowd, we did turns for our individual forays. I was 7th to walk onto the stage to a good cheer, spot on.

All back on stage for comparisons. I was out first with 3 others.

I'm looking at 4th or 5th place off of that, then 3 more callouts...

...This going to be close! Then finished.

Got dressed & watched the rest of the classes. They were all of a very high standard. There will be some of the Mr Great Britain winners here today, and if the "Miss" that took 3rd gets it right at the Britain she will win.

Had a walk around Exeter. For a big city it's dead on a Sunday. Back to the show...6.10 PM It's packed with people about 1000, the place is really buzzing, great atmosphere. Went backstage with Mad Dog, got my tan on & pumped up. All walked on stage at 7,45 PM together. The crowd is going wild! Individual posing next. I choose "Bad to the bone" by George Thorogood...

...As it started I walked on stage & the crowd started cheering, clapping & horns sounding, man what a buzz!

As I only know a few people attending personally & most of those just to speak to (along with two of the fitness competitors me & "the dog" had met earlier & had spoken to during the day), it was an amazing response!

Wow! I just didn't want to get off stage!

Results

All back on stage for the placing. I took 5th. I was pleased with the result, with that I was over-carbed & I know I should/would have been much better. Finally left with a wooden plaque & a lot of great memories. I must say a big thank you to Mad Dog as without him I would have been stuck...

(Mad Dog at play in Robbie's "Battlezone" gym)

Shame the two fitness girls disappeared after the show, that would have ended the day perfect.

Epilogue

It's 3 AM writing this on the 22/04/03, by 11 AM my bodyweight is 12 stone 7 pounds (175 pounds) & my waist is 28 inches. I'm full, hard, no skin fat to pinch. Any contests this weekend!
